Description
For this second Monday of the conference at the Jardin du Lautaret, meet Bilur Bektas, researcher at INRAE who will share with you her research to answer this question: what future for mountain plants in a warming world?
Global warming is well underway and is accelerating particularly in the mountains. The snow is melting earlier, frost episodes in early spring are more frequent and summer droughts are more severe.
"What happens to plants in the midst of this chaos?" is the question that INRAE researcher Bilur Bektas is asking. She is interested in the future of our mountain plants, their acclimatization, their interaction with neighboring species... How do all these changes affect our eco-system?
We will find answers to all these questions during this conference thanks to a unique experiment called "Flying Alpines". You will discover how researchers from the Grenoble Alpine Ecology Laboratory, in collaboration with the Jardin du Lautaret, have warmed up small alpine meadows to study the reaction of plants to global warming before it is too late to protect them...
